What ever happened to good old-fashioned customer service and when did business become so mercenary - at least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask, today it seems, people wear suits and power ties!
Now don't get me wrong, ultimately, we're all in business to make money, to earn an honest crust and I get that. But it seems to me that there are some companies out there, who think that their time and/or service is 'so' valuable, it warrants exorbitant fees … well, you know what – that level of arrogance will bite you one day.
Case in point, I recently met with a prospective new client to chat over redeveloping their website, a brand-new look, removal of the clutter, introduction of new functionality, a standard discussion for this type of work. But then came along the detail, comments that are all too familiar to me – their existing ‘developer’ was charging them for the smallest of changes. Maybe a tweak to a page title, an update to an image, removal of out of date text – something that would quite literally take seconds to do, they were being asked to pay at least £65 for the privilege! Shameful, daylight robbery – no wonder the client is looking elsewhere – service has gone out of the window and has been replaced with unadulterated greed masked as 'value added'.
Another example, a client who received abysmal service from their previous provider, told the story of how they had a straightforward site developed, but were charged nearly half as much again to show them how to use the CMS, and to rub salt into the wound, took zero responsibility when the site got hacked due to poorly implemented security and failure to maintain the platform and plugins.
Actually, ignore everything that I’ve just said, let our competitors carry on with their practices and their clients continue to be disillusioned - lead them over to us, we’d be delighted to help.
There is a better way – and that’s what we at Iosys have engrained in our DNA. Our fully managed service is fully transparent and upfront. We don’t charge for simple run of the mill updates and we won’t flummox with technical nonsense & BS.
Clean, simple, intuitive – the perfect fit, not the nearest match.
