We all like a bargain, but you must look beyond the headline figure and consider what you're getting into.
As an example, let’s take domain names – those being offered for 99p – "oh great, that’s a bargain, I’ll get one", you may say … but what does that actually get you?
Yes, you’ve purchased a domain name for 99p and it’s yours for a year (after which it'll be £10 per year at least), but what can you actually do with it?
I’ll host my website with it.
Afraid not – unless you’ve already got a website up & running, you’ll need to pay for hosting.
I already have a website, but I need an SSL certificate.
Yes, you absolutely do, and most domain providers charge for the privilege.
I’ll use it for emails.
Afraid not – you’ll need to pay for an email service of some description.
I’ll transfer it out.
You could, but many domain providers restrict transfers within 60-90 days and often charge for moving the name away, generally £10-£20 as an 'admin fee'.
So, in a very short space of time, that 99p bargain, may actually end up costing you much more than you’d anticipated.
All our website design packages include domain name, email, UK hosting and SSL security as standard - and the best part is, we do all the hard work for you.
So, which would you prefer, a bogus 99p bargain from a non-descript call-centre, or a fully-managed offering from a local, trustworthy specialist?
The decision as they say, is yours.
